Psalm 22:5 They cried to you and were saved in you they trusted and were not disappointed
The day rises, the night sinks to a place that no one really understands. The pain in a sustaining mind, the pain in a sustaining eye, the pain in a sustaining heart, the pain can be conformed to a place of peace with the help of the Father. As the world views the destruction upon Haiti, the hurting hearts that go out to the people of Haiti and anyone that has a connection to Haiti shows the compassion that does exist in our world. The reality that we face here is God’s finger pointing to each individual in the world that knows of the destruction of Haiti. The truth behind all of destruction is that God wants us to take action in our lives and care for those who are nearest to us. So many times God speaks and we do not listen, so many times, we say yes Lord, but it is a half hearted yes. Our hearts should be burden for the people of Haiti and we should do everything in our power to assist in the immediate need as well as the long-term need of the county.
As hands, hearts, time, and money extend to Haiti, take time to reflect on the needs around you, the day will come when the people closest to you may be gone. Before people around us, as quickly as the many Haitian people went, extend a hand, a heart, and words in order that those closes to you feel your deep compassion and love. Let us all learn from such a disaster when we see a need let us act before devastation strikes. Remember we do not need to wait to extend a blessing. Much like God does for us everyday he extends his mercy and his grace to us daily.
Where do we go from here? Do not wait any longer to extend a blessing to the need of Haiti? Find someone extend blessing and continue to bless others. Do not wait for disaster to strike near or far away! Continue blessing others when devastation takes control it will have much less power.
