THE ENDURING CHALLENGE

We also pray that you will be strengthened with all his glorious power so you will have all the endurance and patience you need. May you be filled with joy, [Or all the patience and endurance you rod-and-alyssaneed with joy.] Colossians 1:11

As the season of soccer is upon me, the team I am the head coach of seems to have faced early challenges in the season. We are three games into the season and the team has not won a game yet, but we seem to have the correct pieces to win games.  The question I have asked myself is why has the team not won yet, so I analyze each game as well as each player.  Then I go through and analyze each player who has not played in a game. Looking for answers it is important to look at the foundation of how the team is built to decide if the team has a solid foundation to go forward. Once the answer to that question is provided, the work to find the first win begins. The work takes many hours of preparation, many hours of dissecting each player and each movement they make in training or games.  There are multiple hours invested into one training session, there are hours spent searching for just the correct words to speak to each player during training, games, as well in the everyday walk of life associating with players away from a soccer setting. It seems that there is not a moment taken that does not leave any detail going unevaluated in order to find the winning formula. Many times the preparation begins in the daylight hours and moves to next day’s daylight hour without taking time to focus on other events. The planning that takes place to have a team receive just one win can be a life consuming process at times.  So imagine doing this for seven consecutive months then adding in the remaining months of the year for scouting and contract negotiations.  Now it fair to say this is a process that does have enduring challenges that could shake ones being. The reality is if the enduring challenges do not motivate then the game will win. So if you have other things in your life that are all consuming other than the pursuit of the Lord Jesus Christ it time to change that and make God the all consuming person in your life.

Grace and Peace to you,

Rod
